I would start at the beginning, but I'm from the future so that might become too confusing.
Essentially, I'm a guy who collects horror movies, and that is the actual purpose of this site. I wanted to create a web-based platform so I would have access to a list of the movies I have from my phone since spreadsheet apps don't seem to like very large files. From that humble past arrives this humble present.
At some point I realized that Eric Roberts is in a hell of a lot of the movies in my collection. It had become something of a running joke at home, such that I decided to shape my eventual website in his image. While it may not seem this way, it isn't meant to disrespect Eric Roberts one bit. In fact, I admire his versatility and prolifery. The whole "Unofficial Eric Roberts Fan Club" schtick just sort of became a framing device for the site's original purpose. Plus, I was kind of bored. It seemed as though, whatever I had in mind, that there was an Eric Roberts photo on Google Images that could be used to fit my purpose (or modified for such). Actually, that may be ultimately true of a lot of people. But I made my decision and I don't regret it.
If you came here looking to connect with like-minded Eric Roberts fans, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
But why make a website at all, you ask? Well, apart from the aforementioned need to have access to an inventory of my movie collection on-the-go (seriously, I hate buying a DVD and finding out that I already have it) it is kind of a throwback to the days when capable people actually would make websites instead of using 'social media'.
Whether I like it or not, times are such that everyone should have some presence on the internet. I am dead-set against social media and all its trappings, so I did it the old-fashioned way; with notepad, a knowledge of HTML, paintbrush, and a can-do attitude.
As for the technical specifications, I've kept it fairly no-frills for ease of access. It is hosted for free by 000webhost, which is why there's an occasional watermark advertisement. Apart from that, the site contains no ads and generates no revenue. The domain was registered through GoDaddy, which I regret. Be advised, if ever you find yourself registering a domain, that GoDaddy will sell your information and you will receive a deluge of emails and phonecalls from companies wanting to update your search engine listing, design your website, etc. I do some of the work on the site at the office using Windows 10 and Internet Explorer, but most of it is done at home using Ubuntu Linux and Firefox/Tor. Absolutely everything is hand-written HTML, and all images are made/modified by me personally using nothing any fancier than the standard Paintbrush program. I'm not going to lie and say it's copyrighted or any such thing. Steal whatever you'd like and don't feel obligated to give anyone any credit. Isn't that what the internet is all about? Besides, it's not really all that good anyway. This site is probably not easy to find with most search engines, but in keeping with its original purpose it is not intended to drive traffic.
Feedback is tolerated, but I actually couldn't care less if you like it or not. Thanks for visiting.
